Methodology and sources

Sources

Building facts and registration come from the City of Toronto's Apartment Building Registration dataset (RentSafeTO; buildings of three or more storeys and ten or more units, refreshed monthly). Scores come from the Apartment Building Evaluation dataset (2023 onward). Orders come from the Landlord and Tenant Board Order Catalogue published by Tribunals Ontario on the Ontario open data portal, currently covering final orders from January to May 2026, with earlier years to follow. Coordinates come from the City's Address Points dataset. All are used under the Open Government Licences of Toronto and Ontario.

Matching

Orders are matched to buildings by street number and normalised street name. About 57% of Toronto orders match a registered building; the rest concern condos, houses and small buildings, which this site deliberately does not profile. Company pages group records by the names that appear in the registration and on orders; name variants are merged where they clearly refer to the same company, and this grouping can be imperfect.

How to read order counts

The large majority of orders are L1 applications (rent arrears). A high order count is a fact about filing activity at a building, and often about hardship among its tenants; it is not, by itself, evidence of poor maintenance. Maintenance findings appear as T6 orders, above-guideline rent increases as L5. Counts currently cover five months of data and will grow as the catalogue backfills to 2021; comparisons between buildings should use the per-100-units rate, not raw counts. Orders subject to confidentiality directives are excluded by Tribunals Ontario before publication.

People

This site profiles buildings and companies, never private individuals. Personal names that appear in source records are not indexed or published as pages. Tenant names are never shown.

Corrections and responses

Every fact carries its source and date, and official records prevail over this site. Landlords and property managers can request corrections or publish a response on their page.
